Cheap books of ALL kinds

I posted a few weeks about libraries being dangerous places, because they can feed my book habit. To expand a bit, for "Works For Me Wednesday":

Twice a year, our library has a weekend book sale. Part of the books are culls from all the library branches that haven't been checked out in "X" number of years, so that they can make room for new books. Others - and this is where the book sale gets really good - are books that people have donated to the library and its bookstore. The library maintains a small bookstore in one corner, year-round, to help raise money for the woefully under-funded library. When the book sale rolls around, they pull them ALL out, and everyone in town has a ball.

The best day to go is the last day. They usually have a "bag sale" that day - grab a paper grocery sack (provided) and stuff it just as FULL as you possibly can or care to, and only pay $2 FOR THE ENTIRE BAG.

Our library has books of all kinds at the book sale, and I'm always able to get tons of good stuff for general reading as well as educational stuff for homeschool. This time around we ended up with books about countries like Japan and China, a 6-volume set of Popular Science encyclopedias, and more. I've bought textbooks before, too!

Check with your local library and see if they have something similar - you'll be glad you did! Well, until you get home and realize that you have no where to put all this great new aquisitions.....

Go check out Works For Me Wednesday this week!
