It's my BIRTHDAY, and I'll give if I want to....
Woo-hoo, I'm alive again for another birthday! So, to celebrate, I'm giving away stuff!
Two categories, both winners will receive a hand-crafted beaded bracelet made by moi. (It's one of my little crafty hobbies)
1. Guess how old I am today. First one to guess right wins!
2. We're going to my brother-in-law's house for Thanksgiving this year. It's a 4 hour trip. I want to be able to take *something* for the meal, but I'm not sure what. Whoever posts the recipe I like best for making and taking up there will win.
Please leave all posts in the comments section. Contest runs from now until Sunday night, midnight. (11/12) Winners will be announced on Monday.
Sorry, if you're part of the The Help Web team, you're not eligible. But I love you guys anyway!

Ok, see if this works: here's my recipe (of course, I already posted it on the board)
Cranberry kugel
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup oil or margerine
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Mix together until crumbly, and pat half into an 8x8 square pan. (Note: I always double this recipe, baking in a 9x13 pan. It's small to begin with, and everyone always wants seconds)
Then combine:
1 can cranberry sauce (I use whole berry)
1 can pineapple bits or mandarin oranges (drained)
1 cup applesauce (sugar-free is good)
Spread fruit mixture over the crust in the pan, and cover with the remaining crumble mixture. Bake at 350 F for about half an hour, maybe a bit more- until the kugel is a bit brown on top and the fruit is bubbly.
Serve warm or at room temp. If you like, you can serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
By now, you might have seen it on the board. It's really good, though, and it's one of those recipes which makes everyone ask for it. Happy birthday, btw!

Guessing the age of a woman I do not know? Hmmm... sounds dangerous! LOL
But, here's a nice bring-along that travels well and our family really liked.Just pop it into the broiler again for a minute to crisp and reheat before serving.
Cheesy Bread Appetizers... good while waiting on the Turkey ;)
Preheat your broiler and mix together 3 tbsp. mayo, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, 8 oz. shredded or crumbled mozzarella cheese and either 2 tbsp. chopped deli honey ham or turkey or 2 tbsp. canned chopped mushrooms in a small bowl.
Spread mixture evenly all over a loaf of french bread, cut length-wise in half.Sprinkle with paprika for color.
Broil bread on top rack for 1-2 minutes or untill cheese is melty and slice into about 20 slices or however many you want, once cool.
wrap up in wax paper and then foil and take along!
Have Fun :) And God Bless!!
