Must-Read Monday
E.B. White's books have been loved for decades now, and all of them come highly recommended. As a child, I only read "Charlotte's Web", and attempted "Stuart Little" to no avail.
When my mother gave the kids a 3 volume set of those plus "The Trumpet of the Swan", though, I knew I'd be reading all of them, and indeed I did. We've read each of them at least twice.
But the kids' favorite? Trumpet, by far. I think the "Montana, banana, banana" line had something to do with that. "Trumpet" is a fun fantastical piece about a poor little cygnet with no voice who learns to create his own voice in this big world with the aid of a trumpet stolen by his well-meaning father. Louis the swan educates himself, becomes a well-respected employee in several places, falls in love and eventually settles down with his lady love to a contented life. It's a precious book, and I think you'll all enjoy it.

The Trumpet of the Swan was one of my favorite books as a child as well. Absolutely delightful!
